SUMMARY:Digifest Meet the Media Guru – FREE TALK
DESCRIPTION:Award-winning artist and information designer Giorgia Lupi will be this year’s Meet the Media Guru speaker at the Digifest kick-off on April 25 at George Brown College.  \nGiorgia is the co-author of the inspirational\, data-visualization book Dear Data. She founded Accurat\, a data-driven design firm that has offices in Milan and New York. Devoted to her Italian roots\, Giorgia represents a “Data Renaissance” where she uses data to tell human stories. She will share her work in data visualization and infographics for clients including IBM\, Google\, Microsoft\, the Gates Foundation\, the United Nations and her work is part of the permanent collection at the MoMA. \nGiorgia Lupi’s presentation introduces a larger discussion on technology which will take place over the next two days at Digifest with the theme Hello Tomorrow: Our Creative Cities. Digifest 2018 looks at at how  technology is improving our quality of life in cities of the future better through innovative thinking. From April 26-28\, Digifest brings speakers from around the world to share insight in the areas of cities\, food\, knowledge\, culture and design.  \nLupi’s talk will be also the occasion to celebrate the long-time partnership between Digifest and Meet the Media Guru\, the Italian platform of knowledge exchange and meetings with international thought leaders. Last February\, Meet the Media Guru announced the launch of MEET\, the Italian Digital Culture Centre located in Milan. George Brown College and MEET are excited to join together to co-develop educational and research projects in Canada and Italy.
